Teaching Assistant

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated, resourceful and committed Teaching Assistant to work in our school with pupils with Special Educational Needs

The school is a Specialist School for Physical and Sensory. It is also a School of Creativity. We offer the full National Curriculum as a basis for curriculum development and add to this a wide range of additional activities for personal and social growth. All pupils are encouraged and supported to access learning and achieve the highest possible standards.

Applicants will need to be adaptable, confident and preferably have experience of working in a school with pupils with special educational needs.

The hours of work are: Teaching Assistant - Monday to Friday, from 8.30am to 3.30pm, term time only (including all school training days).

The salary range for the posts is SCP5 – SCP 10 £21,575 - £23,620 pa pro rata – starting salary will normally be the post minimum (Actual salary £16,300.42 - £17,845.47 pa)

Supply Teaching Assistant

We are looking to expand our bank of Supply Teaching Assistants.

Supply Teaching Assistants will work on a casual supply basis to cover for staff absences, and may be called at short-notice. You will be adaptable, confident and preferably have experience of working in a school with pupils with special educational needs although training and full induction is given. Supply Teaching Assistants will be paid on hourly rate of approx. £11.18 per hour for the actual hours worked. We are ideally looking for people who are able to cover from 8.30am to 3.30pm and who could come in to cover absence if called from 7.30am.

For your DBS you will need to bring with you three items of documentary evidence of identity, e.g. driving licence, passport, birth certificate and a utility bill or bank statement less than three months old. Also bring evidence of National Insurance number (payslip may contain it). We will also require evidence of the qualifications you hold Please bring in your original qualification certificates. These documents must be originals - please hand to the office for copying the day of Interview.

We cannot guarantee a set amount of cover per week, although in general those on the supply list have been utilised on a regular basis.

Please note, the employment process for supply staff can take 6 – 8 weeks.

The school provides for children with a wide range of Special Educational Needs. The School is divided into 3 departments; Primary, Secondary and Sixth Form, to enable curriculum delivery and expectations that are age appropriate to all pupils. We are looking to expand our bank of outstanding Supply Teachers to teach pupils across the school who have a range of complex special educational needs.

• are experienced in SEN practices and provision with extensive knowledge of how to meet the needs of pupils with SEN

• have a great deal of enthusiasm and can motivate and inspire all pupils to learn

• have excellent communication skills

• have an interest in teaching a range of subjects.
